Westoff Rating Service is a RESNET Certified Home Energy Rater. As a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rating Westoff is a professionally accredited by RESNET, the national governing body regulating the standard and procedures and assuring the credibility and independence of the rater.

The Westoff Energy Rater does a full set of tests and personal inspection of each set of tests and personal inspection of each individual home. Westoff is independent and is not a subsidiary of any supplier or company. Therefore, Westoff gives the customer the unbiased and independent rating required to achieve the Energy Star.

As a certified Home Energy Rater, Westoff enters into an accredited computer program all of the design parameters for each home. The Rater then does an extensive home field test using instruments such as a blower door, thermal imaging camera and visually verifies parameters.

A thorough report is issued with a summary certificate that the home owner (or builder) can submit to the IRS for a $2,000 tax credit. The certificate is signed by Westoff as a Certified Home Rater and is all that needs to be submitted with your tax return (along with the appropriate tax form) to get the $2,000 direct tax rebate. (Note: the $2,000 reduces the amount you owe and is not a general deduction).
